Medius means -
'in the middle of',
'to be a spokesman', or
'ambassador'.
Mobilis Medius simplifies the process of importing data from other software
tools and exporting data from Mobilis. Medius acts as a translator to and from
the Mobilis software
family.
Main
Features
Import and export of data from other OSS or BSS applications
Import and export of data from other software applications like Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word
Supports triggered outbound extractions of data
Supports automatic and manual outbound extractions of data
Inbound and Outbound Interfaces
Medius integrates with all other components of the Mobilis Software Family and act as a translator between the Mobilis software family and all external applications that need to share data to and from the Mobilis database.
Medius provides an environment where administrators can define all inbound and outbound interfaces, as well as Data Collection requirements in an easy and intuitive manner.
Medius supports:
Configuration of Inbound Interface or Conversion Data
Configuration of Outbound Interface or Conversion Data
Configuration of Data Collection on off-line handheld devices
Configuration of Data Collection screens inside Mobilis
Positioning
Medius supports inbound and outbound data processing for all other products within the Mobilis software family. It also supports the configuration of Data Collection devices like barcode readers, PDA’s etc. Collected data from these devices can be easily transferred to any area of the Mobilis product suite. This is done through processing features held within the inbound data functionality, configured within Medius.
The Medius user interface has been designed for ease of use and provides access to the system for both users and administrators. The use of Medius functions does not require programming skills and therefore can be done by the system administrators and users alike depending on access levels that have been created. Once set-up, the Medius functions are held in the product database and therefore do not require any programming or vendor involvement.
Medius is implemented using Consistel’s ISO recognized project management expertise. This involves working closely with the customer to configure the system to include his individual requirements based on the network vendor/s and system management requirements.
Medius – business case
Mobile operators face an array of challenges specifically relating to off-line Data Collection, whether it concerns a ‘replace defective equipment swap’, a ‘site address update’, or a ‘work order completion’. Medius offers the operator a mechanism to create and maintain these transactions from within a single product. Changes in your business process can be reflected in a change in the Data Collection requirements by simply adjusting the configuration to the new requirements.
Medius also provides functionality to easily configure both inbound and outbound interfaces. Interfacing is always an expensive item on the implementation budget. Interfaces also have a tendency to be very specific for the version of the software you are running. With the interface configuration residing in a single database, this problem is now solved. Upgrading, and integrating other Mobilis products will not have a negative influence on your investment in the development of interfaces.
Medius Implementation
Consistel is one of the market leaders in providing infrastructure management OSS solutions to mobile network operators, this fact provides for a thorough understanding of the issues surrounding business processes, diverse IT system integration, data volumes, change control and the provision of easy to use applications.
Medius benefits from this experience as the successful integration, deployment and usage of OSS systems is dependent on providing a tight fit with the existing systems and processes that are already in use. As each operator has a different mix of systems and processes, it is essential that a customer specific implementation plan forms a key part of the delivery process.
The customer specific plan includes all details of the interfaces and Data Collection processes that Medius will support, as well as the architecture and environment in which it will operate. The plan also includes hardware dimensioning information and provides part of the ISO standard project management procedures that Consistel employ on all implementation projects.
The flexibility to ensure that Medius is capable of being customized and deployed to meet the varied requirements of integration and Data Collection has been incorporated into the design and development of the system.
Key Benefits:
An easy to use inventory management, asset tracking and asset management reporting system.
Easy handling of inbound interface requirements that do not require vendor involvement.
Configuration capabilities that will allow you to work with the source data ‘as is’, without having to adjust to interface data layout constraints.
Easy configuration and maintenance of data collection logic from handheld devices, including barcode readers, without involvement of the vendor.
Increased efficiency in Data Entry and Updates, since updates on several screens can be combined onto on single Data Entry screen. This also influences user acceptance of the system.
Easy handling of outbound interface requirements that do not require vendor involvement.
Allows integration with third party software, allowing outbound data to include, or solely contain data from other applications.
A robust and scaleable IT platform architecture.
A powerful oracle database.
Extensive Consistel support options.
