CONSISTEL WINS CONTRACT TO PROVIDE
WIRELESS SOLUTION FOR KLCC COMPLEX IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA
|
|
Malaysia
– CONSISTEL, the leading independent specialist provider of network solutions for
wireless telecommunications industry – has been chosen to provide
in-building cellular coverage within one of the world’s largest building
complexes.
“This will be a single
solution for a consortium of the biggest cellular providers in
Malaysia,” says Masoud Bassiri, CONSISTEL’s Chief Executive Officer.
“CONSISTEL will combine state-of-the-art equipment with unique
in-building consultancy, to provide a cost-effective solution for the
network operators.”
CONSISTEL won the
contract – against stiff competition – to provide coverage in all the
public areas of the Securities Commission building, which houses the
Malaysian Stock Exchange and incorporates 11 floors of offices, a
conference hall, library and recreation areas. The contract commenced
in October 1999 and will be completed in time for the Millennium
celebrations.
Mr Haji Itham Othman
(Chairman, LCO) KLCC comments: “The sheer scale of this project
underlined our need for a consultancy with world-class wireless
expertise and extensive in-building planning experience. I am delighted
to say that CONSISTEL’s track record of working with wireless providers
to achieve the very best quality of service and coverage within some of
the most complicated building developments in the world, was a key
factor in their winning of one of the world’s most challenging
projects.”
As part of the contract,
CONSISTEL is also responsible for the provision of cellular coverage for
public areas in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). The KLCC includes
the Suria, 6 floors of sprawling shopping mall with its five massive
basement car parks.
After undertaking a full
turnkey project for the Consortium, CONSISTEL is responsible for the
execution of in-building contracts. This includes the delivery of
equipment, the creation of antennae networks and the provision of a full
suite of engineering services to ensure testing and acceptance for all
the mobile service providers.
“The sheer scale of the
operation is a testament to the expertise CONSISTEL has to offer in this
arena,” comments Bassiri. “The car park beneath the twin towers alone
is so large, it requires five kilometers of cable, carrying signals for
multiple cellular systems.”
For the Consortium,
CONSISTEL has created the world’s first multi-system network coverage
infrastructure, to be implemented concurrently in a multi-building
environment. “All the providers involved in the Consortium have worked
together in a unique manner,” says Bassiri. “As a result, we have
developed a single infrastructure that incorporates individual
infrastructures for each operator.”
CONSISTEL’s
groundbreaking approach means any subscriber in Malaysia can gain
coverage within the complex, no matter which operator they are with.
“CONSISTEL has the techniques, the specialist knowledge and the ability
to implement an in-building solution anywhere in the world and at
speed,” says Bassiri.
This is the first
in-building contract for CONSISTEL in Malaysia. As a result,
CONSISTEL
has now opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur to provide dedicated local
support. “As part of our commitment to Malaysian providers, we have
established a new base in Kuala Lumpur,” added Bassiri. “Now they will
be able to source our products and services directly at their own
doorstep.”
The contract marks
several significant firsts for CONSISTEL. “This is the first major
in-building contract won in Malaysia, and is definitely the world’s
largest single solution for cellular providers,” states Bassiri.
