Implementation Approach

CONSISTEL maintains a high standard in implementing in-building networks. While not disturbing the ambience of the building, we make use of the available resources to provide a cost-efficient high quality network.

Cable Routing

Cable risers inside the building will serve as the main distribution points for the feeder cable distribution system on the various floors of the building. Efficient utilization of the cable risers ensures that feeder lengths are minimized, thus minimizing the feeder losses as well as material cost. This allows for a more robust link budget that translates into improved signal strength for both uplink and downlink. Feeder routes on each floor are chosen to minimize installation difficulties by avoiding private enclosed areas such as shops and offices.

Antenna Location

Antenna locations are important in maximizing the coverage areas by avoiding shadows, capitalizing on the propagation gain effect along corridors and identifying important coverage areas like car parks, lobbies, restaurants, shops and reception areas. Customers can specify the area to be covered and the coverage KPIs. The antennas will be small and positioned in such a way that indoor structural aesthetics is not compromised. The antennas will be installed on the ceiling and walls. Moreover, they will be positioned to decrease uplink interference and downlink emission while providing very good coverage to the interior of the building.

Handover

There shall be sufficient overlap between the coverage footprint afforded by the relevant antenna elements with the existing outdoor coverage so that indoor-to-outdoor and outdoor-to-indoor handovers can be performed smoothly without dropped calls. At the same time, unnecessary spillage of the indoor signals into the outdoor cells is avoided by proper selection of antenna types and antenna positioning, as well as proper signal strength. Difficult and/or unique handover optimization can be resolved by using the simulation, high-end data capture/analysis and measurement tools.

Expansion Flexibility

The design will cater for further expansion with minimal modification of the RF distribution network. Such expansion may be for purposes of improving coverage or capacity, or to cater for emerging new technologies.
